604 miles before my first flat- pretty good. It didn't take me long, and I was expecting it. Earlier in the day I ran straight over a reflector. Out west they have a couple of different types of reflectors that sit right on the road and help to divide oncoming traffic. Some are recessed into the pavement. Others stand up like placecards. I ran over the latter. But the tire didn't go flat then. It wasn't until many miles down the road that I started to lose control and looked down to see the flat. I can't be sure there's a relation, but a potential flat was certainly on my mind.
What wasn't on my mind was another flat (same tire) only ten more miles down the road.
Okay, I have been riding on a tire with a small hole from a piece of glass. I thought that since it had been fine for 600 miles that it was probably the tube, not the tire. The second flat changed my mind. I have these ribbon-like rolls of plastic that line the inside of the tire for extra protection. My ultimate solution was to readjust the ''tuffie'', since it had a corresponding hole.
This should work. I'm using my last new tube.
Cue the wood knocking.
