I finished this day at 9:00pm. I started at noon. It wasn't that I went especially far, and it wasn't that I gained a lot of elevation.
It was the wind.
I hate headwinds.
I hate them.
Imagine planning a canoe trip, and you know which direction you have to go, but you don't know which way the water will be flowing. It makes all the difference. You could have an incredibly easy day or, well, a tiring, hellish one.
80 miles, breeze in my face all day, still not out of Montana. 70 miles before I saw a place to eat. Hot, in the 90s. Short on water, I tried to flag down ten cars before one finally stopped and gave me three bottles.
You have to listen to me complain because this was the worst day of the trip.

P.S. I hate headwinds.

Name the book/author: "You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however."
Keep up the good work!
Ah yes.. the damned wind.. 'may the road rise up to meet you and the wind be at your back..' or something like that.
