If I Were a Train

The last I saw of Dave and Jody, Dave was pointing from his van down the Trail of the Coeur D'Alenes in the direction of Kellogg. This trail is separate from the trail I rode this morning, and even more beautiful. It's part of the Rails to Trails system, so it actually passes over old train bridges and along isolated routes, all paved for recreation now.
When I was a kid I used to love looking at model train magazines, not so much for the trains, but for the cool landscapes the enthusiasts would build. This trail was like being dropped right into a carefully and beautifully planned layout. But this one included working wildlife, like the moose that crossed about fifty yards in front of me at one point. Just amazing.
