If this doesn't post until tomorrow afternoon, you'll forgive me. Actually, you'll have to forgive Lubec, Maine (the easternmost town in the USA, according to their sign). I haven't had a good signal since Bangor, and now only a very weak one. Oh, and it's Canadian. So if I use it I will get charged international rates.
Today (which will be yesterday by posting time) John and I made decent progress. Except, that is, for when there was traffic; which was all afternoon. It is 4th of July weekend after all, and Maine, like everywhere, is filled with vehicular vacationers. It took us a few tries to find a place to eat, but we finally found the Inn on the Wharf. Cute waitress, nice staff, good food. The picture below I snapped from their deck.
John and I just realized it's an hour later here. We're still confused. We are so far east that we are beyond the Eastern time zone. We're on sea time.
On the way in we stopped at a small motel. The woman helped us find this place, the Peacock House. As we were leaving John mentioned that I was starting a bike trip from here. He said something about the Keys, and I mentioned Key West. She was surprised, and interested in writing a story for the local paper. I took her card and told her to meet me in the morning down at the water. So, more on that tomorrow, maybe.
To bed (John and I have to share), to sleep, and to dream about this upcoming adventure.
iSent, somewhere between Maine and Florida.
